Drop Offs and Pick Ups
We want to talk with you about one of the most important aspects of boarding your dog with us. That is, the drop off and pick up.
All drop offs and pick ups are by appointment. This means, you will be scheduled into a time slot that is mutually agreeable, so that we can give you and your dog the attention you require. If you are going to be late/early, just call us in advance, and we will work around it.
We have some yards out the front of our reception centre where your dog can relieve themselves before you come in. We know this is an important consideration for the humans and your buddy's comfort.
We know that when people drop off a dog they are often anxious, and when they pick up a dog, they are often excited. Your feelings will change your behaviour in subtle ways that your dog will pick up on, often making them anxious as well. So what we have instilled in a process called "Calm Meetings".
Calm Meetings
To lower the anxiety levels for your dog, which in turn will lower everyone else's potential anxiety, Calm Meetings, is our process we have developed to enhance your dog's experience with us.
These are the steps we need you to take:
- Firstly, advise all family members on this is the process below to take
- Have your leash on your dog before you open the door
- Calmly, with minimum interaction with your dog, take them out of the car, keeping them on loose leash as you walk to the reception centre. You may choose to relax yourselves further by giving your buddy access to the specially built yards for arrival toileting.
- Calmly let us know you have arrived if we are not out already to meet you. You will notice that at this point it will look like we are ignoring your dog - we are keeping a close eye on your dog actually, but we are letting the dog think we are ignoring them.
- We will talk with you and go through paperwork with you first. When that is finished, we will then focus on your dog. Your dog will be weighed and condition assessed, and we will agree as to your requirements for your dog's stay.
- Without any big fuss, we will take your dog and show them our facility in a no fuss way.
- You can finalise any details with us, and you can calmly leave in your vehicle, knowing that your dog has received the best start with us possible.
Now that's not too hard is it?
At the end of your dog's stay, we will encourage a similar process. Paperwork and details will be sorted first. We will then calmly bring your dog out to you. We ask you, and we know this is a difficult request, to ignore your dog for the first 2 minutes of reuniting. We will finish up paperwork, and give you the opportunity to ask any last questions. We will ask you to walk with your dog on lead back to your car. We will come with you, and encourage you to keep the reunion low key. This will make your trip home much easier for you both.
If you have any questions about this process, please email us or call us.
